Snapshot: Neighborhood Week 2

Checking again with this three-week snapshot series, and this week sharing a shot from Venice. I’m currently doing an independent study at school about how Italy gets romanticized and orientalized by others (particularly the British, Americans, and French), and Venice is a site that contemporary tourists latch onto. Here’s a shot from my visit to Venice back in 2012 in Cannaregio, the city’s old Jewish quarter.  Venice is made for getting lost, and Cannaregio, far from the beaten path of Piazza San Marco, is ideal for that.
