I’ve been getting behind with the blogging lately, so here’s another snapshot. My class at the University of Bologna had to switch times because there were too many people in the room and it was a fire hazard. Because the time of the class switched, my schedule got mixed up and I’ve been playing catch-up in a literature class which I just started. I also went on a weekend trip to Oslo this weekend which was incredible, and I’ll be sure to write about later this week, but for now here’s Ravenna!

How beautiful! The details are amazing!

Hi Jamie, it’s incredible to see how small the mosaics are and to imagine how much time and effort went into making these huge ceilings and walls covered in mosaics. I’ll write more on Ravenna later, but it’s definitely a city to visit for its incredible artwork.

great to see your pictures – it is such an amazing place, went there years ago and took a mosaic class and would love to go back!

That sounds incredible! How was the mosaics class you took? Did you make mosaics or learn about the history of Ravenna’s mosaics?

we did both! made 2 mosaics – 1 copy, 1 original, my copy was of the Dove in the birdbath from Mausoleo di Galla Placida, there was history too – we toured all the sites and had lectures about each place. would love to go back one day!
