Redlefsen’s: Beautiful Bay View Dining

Today’s post will be a little shorter than I’d hoped as I’ve been busy getting forms ready for my visa application, but here’s my daily assignment for Writing 101 and my opinions on Redlefsen’s in Bristol.

IMG_2601Between the oldest Fourth of July parade in the country, beautiful historic mansions, and a great restaurant scene, Bristol packs a punch. Last week, I had the pleasure of trying out Redlefsen’s Rotisserie and Grill for the first time, and I was definitely impressed by the food and the ambiance of this German-American restaurant.

Located on Bristol’s Thames Street along the water, Redlefsen’s is open for both lunch and dinner, so my mom, sister, and I stopped by for lunch here before heading into Barrington to do some errands. Inside, Redlefsen’s is beautifully decorated with some lights hanging up, but we decided to eat outside because the Ocean State decided to treat us to some nice weather for once. There are a few tables on the restaurant’s patio, and a couple of other groups also sat outside for a relatively quiet lunch. The restaurant wasn’t too busy on a Thursday for lunch, so we had plenty of space to spread out, relax, and enjoy the view and sound of the water nearby. Although there was a lot of traffic passing by on Thames Street and there were cars parked on the opposite side of the road as people headed to the East Bay Bike Path, we had a great view of the bay from our table, and a good vantage point to people watch from as people poked around the shops in the area and prepared for runs, walks, or bike rides on the nearby path. IMG_2602

The food itself was great. I had a hard time choosing between the many different sandwiches, but decided to save the more German-influenced sandwiches for my next visit and went for the Ultimate Grilled Cheese, made with goat cheese and a fig spread. The sandwich was excellent, tangy, and also sweet, and the fries were also great. Although I wouldn’t call this grilled cheese a completely light bite, it was nice to enjoy by the water, and I absolutely will come back to Redlefsen’s for lunch to sample some of their other sandwiches. I’ve heard it gets crowded for dinner, so make sure to call ahead!
